A tale of Samurai Cooking - A True Love story

“Kitchen Samurai” Funaki Dennai, laid the foundations for Kaga clan cuisine in the Edo Period preparing food for the nobility. His son Yasunobu unfortunately inherited none of his culinary skills. Maid Haru is a talented cook, but her stubbornness leads her to divorce a year after marriage. After being asked by the Kaga clan’s renowned Kitchen Samurai to marry his son, Haru works to remedy Yasunobu’s inability to cook. This heartwarming drama depicts the internal affairs of the Kaga clan from the perspective of the young woman who married into Dennai’s family. It features meals made according to the Funaki family's recipe collection "Ryori Mugonsho" and recreates the workings of samurai family kitchens at the time.

Free admission is based on a first-come, first-served basis, with a full theatre capacity of 60 people. A short Japan video topics DVD will be shown from 5:15pm before the start of the feature film.
